Maui

Phil and I were both way overdue for a vacation - a vacation for the two of us. We went to Maui and had a wonderful time. Thanks Mom & Dad for letting us stay in the condo again and a BIG thanks for watching our girls. We spent the majority of the week just laying on the beach and reading (which by the way, in the 8 1/2 years that we have been married, I've never seen Phil read a book and this week he read 1 and 1/2). The only thing that we didn't get to do that we REALLY wanted to do was take a Helicopter Tour. We should have just done it, but we hooed and hummed about it all week and then ended up not doing it. Next time, it will definitely be on our agenda.
We took a day trip to Hana and had a great time. Last time we went Maui was having a dry spell, so the falls were running slow. We woke up one morning and it was raining (actually it had snowed on Haleakala - I thought we were in Maui to get away from the snow). We decided that since it was raining, we would take advantage of a day in the car instead of a day on the beach. As you can see by the pictures, the falls were flowing with force. It was pretty cool to see. There were points on the drive that we were not sure if we should continue forward because the road was completely covered (I kept seeing in my mind the signs in Southern Utah that say 'do not cross when water is present').
Sunsets in Maui are beautiful and we had the opportunity to watch a sunset every night. We even were lucky to get the perfect tables at restaurants to watch the sunsets on multiple occasions.
Here we are eating at Moose McGillycuddy's. We had our sunglasses on while we ate, because the sun was shining right in our eyes, but we took them off for the picture. I guess we had to deal with sun in our eyes in order to get the prime seats to watch the sunset. This was also the night that we experienced a hit and run. We watched it happen - sometimes those locals have no respect for anyone else. (By the way the onion rings are to DIE for - we want back for a second serving later in the week).
