OK, so I had my dreaded birthday. Yes, I turned 30. I had told myself "no big deal, everyone does it". But it was a big deal! I was really a downer that day. I don't know why - I should have been happy. . .my husband was home, I have a good job, I was done Christmas shopping, I have a great family that takes care of me and my family, and sometimes I have little girls that are a sweet as angels (I did say sometimes). But Phil, being the sweet guy he is (or maybe it was the competitive side of him, that wanted to prove how good he is - yah, that's it, it was his competitive side - how selfish of him) took us bowling. He invited some friends & family & our girls, and off we went, to go bowling. We had a blast! During the first game, I came in 2nd place. . . Heather beat me by 5 pins - doesn't she know that she should let the birthday girl win? The 2nd game, Phil killed us all. He bowled 214, and he let us know that he won! So all and all, the day came and went. I am a year older, but not any wiser.
By the way Phil, the gift? It was thoughtful, and I know the intention is right, but I have to admit. . . I hate it. He got me an iHome for our room, with a clock. The clock is so bright that it could light an entire home. Even when I close my eyes, I can still see the light. I had a scary dream the other night and I thought that I was dying and "going towards the light". I still love you, but we will need to rethink our room situation. Maybe we can put it in the family room.

Is it Christmas Yet?
Why doesn't it feel like Christmas? Maybe its because there is no snow yet. Maybe its because its hard to have Christmas when Phil is gone. Whatever it is, for some reason this year just doesn't feel like Christmas. We have our lights out, our tree is up, the Christmas music is playing, and yet I don't feel like I have the Christmas spirit. Shopping has been done for quite some time. I should feel elated, but I don't feel the satisfaction that I should. I don't know about everyone else, but we have told the girls that Santa is feeling the economic crunch as well. We decided we wanted to try to focus Christmas more on the true meaning. We'll see how that goes.
Last night was our ward Christmas Party and they had the BYU Ballroom dancers come and perform for us. It was fabulous entertainment. It was fun to have something different than the typical nativity. The Primary kids sang the carols instead of the ward choir which was also fun. Sydney even wanted to join the kids (which surprises me since we still can't get her to go to nursery - I know, I know, she will be 2 in less than a month). I did get a little emotional last night - I guess that was when I realized it really wasn't Christmas without our whole family.
The girls made gingerbread houses with Grandma last week at the cabin. They were really cute! I wish I had gotten a picture while they were all put together. I have to admit, the demolition has started. . . the girls pick off a piece of candy everytime they go into the kitchen.
Well we will work on getting more of the Christmas spirit at our house. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to offer advice.

A Quick Update. . .
Sierra is quite the reader. She is so excited that she has started chapter books. She is also quite the little mother, trying to help fix everyone and everything. Her and I still but heads. I am hoping that one day we will be able to figure out how to compliment each other. I know its because she is exactly like me.
Savannah just started reading in her Learning Dynamics class. She finally brought home her first book that she has passed off. She has her part memorized for the Christmas Program. . . Are da reindeer ready? (How do you teach "th"?) She is our little dancer and princess. Of all the girls, she is the most lady like.
Sydney is starting to talk up a storm. She will say something and we all just laugh because we had no idea she had the comprehension of certain words. Her hair is starting to grow in. Maybe she won't be bald after all. She loves the cat the most. She loves to carry him around and just snuggle him. She also has figured out that she can body slam Maggie. She likes to pin Maggie down.
I am still working full time. I am also still in Young Women's. 3 1/2 years. I am ready for a change and I have requested one. I am trying hard to keep my house in order and stay sane. Though I am not very well on either task. I have been going strong on my workout schedule. Every morning at 5:30, I am up and at 'em. I have also been really good with my diet. To all my "Lady Losers" out there. . . keep at it.
Phil is doing well - I think. He is still working in Portland. He was able to come home for a week and a half for Thanksgiving. It was nice to have him home. We all missed him a ton.
Our cat is still having an identity crisis. We still haven't agreed on a name. We had him neutered and declawed last week. Just in the nick of time too-he was just starting to attack the furniture. Maggie and the kitty are the best of friends. When I brought the cat home the first day, I didn't think there was any hope. I thought they would never get along. . . but when we get home and let Maggie in the house, the cat goes and sees her first. They wrestle and play. It is really quite funny to watch. I've tried to get videos, but it hasn't worked out yet. When I get one, I will post (though no one else probably cares about them playing, but Phil does :) ).
The other funny thing about this strange cat is . . . HE LIKES SHOWERS! I know, how weird is that? He comes into the bathroom while we are in the shower, he jumps and comes in, water pouring down on his back.
